display Search Portlet in Logo and Tabs Template???

According to the user guide you can't display <NLGLOBALSEARCHHTML> in the Logo and Tabs Template. Well the site that I am working on has the search box displayed within the page header, however because NS won't display the <NLGLOBALSEARCHHTML> when placed in the header I find myself stumped for a work around.

Any suggestions??

Going to try to use an include () for my header, not sure if it will work, but wanted to see what others have managed to do.
