Posting data to external site

Hi,

   I want to post some data on order confirmation page to some other website such that I want to update some information with our local database.

   The scenario is we want to update the quantity automatically with store database when somebody buys some items. Immediately I want to update my local database with the updated quantity.

    How to acheive this?
