Possible to Display Inactive Items on Web?

Question - is there a way to allow inactive items to be displayed on a Netsuite site, if they are statused as "Display on Website"? I want to be able to display an item with a message like "This item is no longer available. Click here for similar items." Is it possible to make it show up without making the item active? I want to ensure the item doesn't mistakenly get ordered within the UI.
