SCA Product Item Staging

Hey was wondering how other companies handle product staging? I have some products coming out shortly and id like to configure them and view them on the production server (sandbox site not working currently due to other project) without customers being able to find them. I can remove them from categories but they can still find them via search.

How do you guys handle product staging?
