Printing Display Name on BOM form

I have customized our BOM form and want to print the Display Name instead of the Description because it is shorter. 

However, nothing is printing in the Display Name field.

Anyone have an idea why?

I tried filing case #1362707 but it has been closed because we are self service and support doesn't think this is a defect.
