Transaction ID# on message box of email template

I am not sure when this happened, but when we used to send out customized email templates in the "message" section it would say "Company Name:  Invoice #12345"  - now it says "Company Name:  Invoice# <NLTRANID>.

Can somone help me for what has changed that I probably totally missed...
