have commision schedu on profits, how does netsuite calculate profits for the report?

hello
i have a partner commision plan, based upon profit of the transaction.  i can run the report and get a total profit amount on the transaction, and get the 10% commision on that figure to pay the partner.  but i cant drill down to find how netsuite came with the profit amount on the transaction
any suggestions?
