Commission Recognition

I have the following scenario:
Royalties/commissions are treated in the same way as revenue. The revenues and expenses (royalty/commission) are recognized over the subscription period of an event fee. 
Can NetSuite recognize expenses over a period in the same manner revenue in recognized? If so, how?
