End of Year Housekeeping - Commission Plans

Now that NetSuite automatically adds the last day of the year as the "To" date on commission plans, it seems to be forcing the previously recommended end-of-the-year best practice of creating new commission plans for the new year. Unless I'm missing something though, it appears you have to totally manually recreate the new plan as you are not give the option to copy the old plan (save as new) to an updated plan. Is this correct?
