Help with units of measure

I think I may have messed up when I made and used a unit of measure.

The more I play around with it the worse the problem gets.

I have read the help and searched around - I wonder if someone could answer my question easily for me?

Here is my Question:

I buy "Sheets" from a vendor.

We easily cut the sheets down into "Strips"

1 Sheet yields 300 Strips, and we'll be counting them for inventory as strips.

We use the Strips in an assembly item, and sell it that way.  We could also in the future, decide to sell the strips separately.
