Creating a Custom Lot Record -- Any Issues?

edited Nov 26, 2019 8:41AM in Accounting / ERP 7 comments

With all due respect, the Lot Number record is, IMO, poorly conceived and poorly implemented. It has major limitations, and the U/I is very clunky and not at all intuitive.

The biggest deal-breaker is that Lot Number Items do NOT support UOM, which is a major, mandatory requirement for most any manufacturing, and many distribution, operations.

So, we are considering designing a custom Lot Record. The Lot Record will need to be attached to:

Inventory Items

Assembly Items

PO Receipts

SO Fulfillments

Inventory Transfers
Has anyone done this?
Do you see any major gotchas?
Other than the time and effort to implement, is there any reason not to do this?

Howdy, Stranger!
