Can NetSuite track items without their cost affecting financials?
We have a service where we receive a customer's item, refurbish it for a cost, and then ship it back to them. We charge the customer for the refurbishing (service item) and outbound shipping.
The question is, can NetSuite be used to track the customer's items? Can we receive them into inventory, do our refurbishing, and then ship them back out without affecting our COGS or Sales numbers? The way I see it, we can't use an Item Receipt for receiving or an Item Fulfillment for shipping because it will incorrectly report costs on our financials.
Obviously, we can bill for the refurbishing and shipping, but we need to be able to track which items belong to which customer. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
