Convert Inventory to Lot Numbered Inventory
So, we've recently been looking at the advantages of converting our current inventory into lot-numbered inventory. There is a host of advantages, but one big downfall: Starting with new item numbers means throwing out the historic sales of our current items. As such, I have started looking into ways of dealing with this.
During my investigation, I found an interesting field for Inventory Items: "IsLotItem" (T/F). I decided to do some testing. I made a fake inventory item, then, using suitescript, set IsLotItem to T. Like magic, it became a lot numbered item, and the sales history was unaffected! In fact, the only obvious drawback is that existing inventory needs to be manually lot-numbered. That I can deal with later.
