Remove Authorization Request

Has anyone been successful at removing an Authorization Request payment event from a Sales Order?  The order does not ship until September so we would like to "Pre Auth" the card closer to the actual ship date.  Unfortunately, we already did the "Pre Auth".  We have gone through the necessary steps with Cybersource to remove the hold on our customer's credit card but we would like to remove the line from the Sales Order as well.
