Are Item Groups supported in the API?

Are Item Groups supported in the WS API (searching/creating, etc.) 2011.1 or higher? From some of the other posts I'm getting the sense that they aren't and the Schema Browser doesn't list any objects specifically named ItemGroup or GroupItem but I'm just hoping to confirm.

If not, any plans to add in the future and/or is there an enhancement request somewhere that I can vote on?
