Delete Matrix Item

I'm trying to use the PHP toolkit to delete matrix items. I have successfully deleted non-matrix Inventory Items and Child Inventory Items using this script (referencing the internalId).

However, when I delete the Parent MatrixI tem $ns->delete(...), I get a success=1 response, but the Parent Matrix Item still exists. I verified in the Netsuite UI that parent no longer has any related child items.

So I am perplexed why I get a success=1.. Is there another field I need to change to get this to work properly?
