Can I split a payment between two companies if one is the parent?

I have a check from a customer that is the parent company and one of the invoices being paid belongs to the subsidy company .... that subsidy company has the parent company listed in it record.

I can't figure out how to apply the last part of the payment to that subsidy's open invoice?
