How do you search purchase orders by item category?

When creating a purchase order, we put the Part Number in the "Item Category" field.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to search for a part number and be able to tell which vendor we purchased it from, how many we have purchased, and when we purchased the item.

Is there a way to quickly search or to create a report?
