How can I Add 'Created By' to BOM Revision?

I've created a custom text field on BOM revision and I'd like it to show who created that revision. The data is available within system notes, but it doesn't seem as though I can source that via the field directly or pull it up in a saved search or update it with a workflow. Does anyone have a way to do this?
