Can I use inline edit on Transaction Line Field?

Our customer requires updated ship dates to backordered items be sent EDI, this is a new request.

There are over 5000 lines that need to updated, we use inline edit for other updates so we don't need to go into each transaction.

We created a saved search listing all the sales order that we need to update the requested ship date on.

The form is preferred, because I am looking for the line ship date, I have it as Mainline=false.

Is there a way to get around this "Only searches filtered to the main line support editing"?
