How to allow edit and save the Report Customisation?

Have a custom role that wants to edit a customised report as part of ongoing housekeeping but the users only get he "Save As" option. How do we change this? Currently role has Inventory set to View & Report Customization set to Full on the Reports tab. Report has named users on the Audience & Access tabs.
