How to show a customer's deposits on a Customer Statement?

Our accountant would like to know whether it's possible to also list a customer's current unapplied deposits on their Customer Statement.

In looking at the Advanced PDF/HTML reference here (https://suiteanswers.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/73908/loc/en_US), it says that the should be available via the submachine sublist on the Customer record associated with the Customer Statement:


However, when I try to access that sublist using Freemarker in the PDF template, I get no results. What is the correct way to reference that sublist and the values in it?
