Invoice number Change

We needed to make correction to an auto numbered invoice that has been already sent to customer. When we found some errors on the invoice ( qty and price) we deleted the invoice and reissued with correct information. Is there a way to use the deleted invoice number for the replacement? This way the customer will not be confused.
