Configurable Line Items - Breakdown of materials as seperate line items?

So we build race engines and have a very complex variations of different combinations. I have set up our CPQ with our engines, however sometimes a customer calls and wants an odd ball deal where I do not have the items figured into the configurator.

Is there a way that when we configure an item from a sales order that it will create multiple line items on the sales order instead of the one line item that uses the base item? Right now when we complete the configurator, it creates a single line item that we can edit, but it would be nice if it would spit out each corresponding material linked to the configurator as individual line items so we could easily go in and change the items individually instead of me adding more work to the actual configurator.
