Anyone having issues with promotions on free items?

NetSuite Users — I need your help!

There’s an open enhancement request that would fix a long‑standing issue with Flat Rate Promotions.

🆔 Enhancement 860915

Title: Flat Rate Promotions should not be applied to Free Items

Status: Open – Accepting Votes

Right now, if a promo is set up as a Flat Rate discount, NetSuite still applies that discount to items that are intentionally added to the order at $0.00. This creates inaccurate discounts, messy reporting, and prevents businesses from giving free items without unintended markdowns.

This enhancement would allow (or default) Flat Rate Promotions to exclude free items, which is exactly how most businesses expect promotions to behave.
