I really never got this to work either. My issue was sourcing the field does not really work so I actually created a field stored the record then wrote a workflow that updates the value of that field upon save. I source it from the Ship to Address and it works. Not the most elegant solution but it works for me.

The issue is not everything is taxable in every state. That is my main issue

Thanks for the reply Just for closure My work around was to create a field common to all the forms and use that as a sortable field. Not the greatest work around but....it does work

I have a feeling I am getting this because of the timing of the custom action (even though I fire on before record submit it still loads the action on the server side) can anyone confirm that?

I use the native approve button for transitiion in our purchase order approval. The transition I use is: Transition on = none Event Type = None Under condition Button= Approve
