  • You could change the employee email and pass to whatever you want and then use those details to login as that employee and then correct what you need to (This means that from an NS standpoint there is a workaround). Or Netsuite could maybe address permissions in a more serious way in some later version. It is unfortunate…
  • The next version (08.1) may have a real, working Calendar? Netsuite does sell this functionality, but what I thought I was buying was not what I have.. The admin of calendars is unusual at the very least/best. Permissions are set by those lowest in the heirarchy WTF?. I feel silly just writing this.
  • Hi Hazel, Thank you for your attention on this! It's appreciated. What is the exact detail of enhancement request is issue 96724? ie. can we view or re-assign or just delete? Does it address the need for company administrators (or whomever is paying the NetSuite subscription) to be able to have control over the activity…
  • Yep got it :D thanks again!
  • BluePeter, Can you give us that script sample? sound very useful! much appreciated. Thanks, Krishnan
  • I believe the word I used here was rudamentary!. Yes! just start with a simple/limited approach and then build it from there? do something like it as a built-in feature Yes please!! - is there an Enhancement Request that covers this somewhere that we can vote on?
  • Was hoping for point and click wizard style - I was used to this with other software - but thanks for the tip! Running a business it's a bit hard to find where I left my magic "programmer/java/sql/suitscript" hat lying around, but I guess I might have to find it.
  • OK, found a way... Went to the group, then clicked on the "group calendar" top right. Copied that URL eg. https://system.netsuite.com/app/crm/calendar/calendar.nl?ccal=78 into a new shortcut link - works great!
  • I was able to get a better result (for us anyway ;) ) by creating custom links for each calendar and then placing those links on my tabs. Now my users can easily get to the calendars they want, without the need to create/maintain the shortcuts. Thanks for your help though! :)
  • yeah thats odd, it is on the customer/job record though, just another hard to explain quirk in the UI?
  • Maybe set the From & To time as the same time?
  • Latest from Netsuite Support: Hi Krishnan, Even though the help may suggest that admin's have access to all data but this is with exceptions. 'By design', NetSuite does not allow private tasks to be accessed by anyone except the creator and the assigned person. To change this behavior we can to raise an enhancement…
  • Netsuite Support Reply; Administrator does have access to majority of the areas of the system however unfortunately private tasks cannot be accessed by the Administrator role. Unbelievable. From the "Feature" part of the Netsuite site: Managers have full visibility into the day's activities, enabling them to load balance…
  • An odd aspect of calendar groups is that those groups are not really a group calendar view, they are actually a seperate calendar (with members). The way I have worked with other CRM is that when you view a group calendar, it is a view of those users calendars, rather than another, seperate calendar, as NetSuite does it.…
  • Please, stop using several names for buttons with the same function. eg. on some pages it's "save" and on others it's "submit"
  • Some work in this area by Netsuite would really help. The Scheduler is nightmare to use. The suggested workaround is - how should I put this politely - impractical? The work around we have is using paper. Maybe the web seminar https://netsuitemeeting.webex.com/netsuitemeeting/onstage/g.php?d=330026713&t=a will help... A…
  • I think I am mostly wrong (this happens at least daily!) If I restrict my roles to 1 restricted task search and also remove search permission and also remove the "private" checkbox from page layouts then the only "hole" remaining is that each user can define their own activity private yes/no. ( which IS complete BS as I…
  • I can only dream.... http://blogs.salesforce.com/user_experience/2007/07/usability-sessi.html
  • we can't get the sales and marketing or creative people to use Netsuite's calendar and activities because of the administrative appearance. Any advice? Exactly - the shabby appearance, layouts, difficulty to use, difficulty to admin, performance & total lack of data heirarchy combine to make NetSuite Calendar funtionality…
  • Matt - thanks for your suggested tip & work-around (activity management hierarchy - if all public?) - I was also considering a custom record "Secure Task" - but should this really be a work-around issue? -it's a product fault. I guess the amusing thing about this problem is that nobody runs into it as an issue - because…
  • actually - a good point. I needed to make changes to someones event urgently and had to contact the user to do this - by the time I did that and the time had elapsed (they were on vacation) - the events time had also elapsed. Admin should be able to change and see ALL data. Please Ray, can you establish an ER or Issue for…
  • Hi Cecelia, OK, So I have had a few goes at it, for support to even consider an Enhancement 1st I had to convince them there was a business case for "activity sharing and permissions"!!!!! I started laughing but ended in tears. Anyways here is what I have; 1.Enh 46152 - Permissions on Activities Closed S5 -Minor 2.(NO Enh…
  • Yes, I find this as frustrating as when I started this thread some time ago. For my business with the product we used before (salesforce) we had been able to move towards a secure task managed environment which really worked. Since we have Netsuite it's all back to words and paper, Netsuite is not built to use as your…
  • Someone please correct me - I would love to be wrong about all this OK, this is the help : 14.Check the Private Task box if you want only you or the person in the Assigned To field to see this task. If that is true then what Netsuite allows is for data to be stored by users in Netsuite which can be hidden from the customer…
  • Had an encouraging talk today with someone from NetSuite, it does seem like they are interested to develop this area of the app, it's a question of what and when, Some of the topics I brought up are; [LIST] [*]Labels (colors) similar to Outlook - more color in general [*]Security/Sharing - Relationship Management - not…
  • kdixon - have your tried a calendar search for this? Thanks, -e Evan, thanks for taking a look at this. Users are used to things like Outlook, which have easy to use Calendars - they Look like a Calendar - and that is the point. As soon as you ask a user to use a search they go straight back to Outlook - a search is…
  • Thanks Ross! it is a workaround as you say, I do hope that NS will start to build the calendar as a more useful tool though, using saved searches kind of gives my users the message that the calendar is an afterthought, which is a bit sad.
  • Well, after a chat with Netsuite; [LIST] [*]Tasks are not really meant to be used as anything more than "reminders" and the like. [*]My company will need to ensure my users don't record private tasks. [*]I should not really consider tasks as management tools, sensitive management tasks should not go in a "database". [*]My…
  • Netsuite seems to have the calendar on it's feature list just to help sell the product to new customers. It does not seem to have real usability, maybe just a marketing ploy? Netsuite - how do you use it?, can some NS Employee's please post screenshots of your calendars, maybe that will help? hbethell - will add to your ER…
