We are getting this also. filed a case last week which is now defect 207423. Whats strange is when we print out packing slip the last four digits of the card are there, but the card is not saved in the financial tab of the customer profile. Its really hurting us.

I got the same issue. We use the custom email message in a saved search for new customer registrations to send out a "Welcome Email" (since you cant do it any other way, not that I can find). This might be simple and crude but it works well for us. We our trying to build up our Facebook fan page.
