I would love to hear an answer on this - I think this is standard fare for anyone who orders large amounts - deposit on order, % percentage on receipt and then % after x number of days. Would like to know how you are handling this issue since I don't think NS has any built in functionality to deal with this.

We spent a lot of time trying to figure a workaround to this horrible problem but unfortunately we couldn't figure anything out. So we have over a hundred "dummy" items on the website which then have to swapped out manually when we process the sales order. This just KILLS us. I hope someone with sway at NS is reading this…

Thanks for the reply, that does clear things up. What about bringing in the initial inventory. On our last system we just created an "internal adjustment" vendor and "purchased" all our inventory that was on the shelf from that vendor and then created a debit memo for the amount of that inventory to credit the purchase.…

Creating the new part #s is what we settled on for now as well. I did submit an enhancement request for this. So who knows what NS will come up with in the future.

Thanks - I had just found the expand accounts option in the accounting preferences that allows me to select the opening balance equity account. Before I was only seeing expense accounts. So this issue is solved. Thanks again for your responses.

Thanks for the reply - however, our controller would have my head if we used inventory adjustments for anything but writing off lost or damaged inventory. Any other ways of handling this?
