Hello Community! Josh Maxwell, a User Experience Researcher for NetSuite Foundation has fun a question for you. Imagine for a moment that NetSuite had an assistant like Alexa or Siri. What would you ask of your NetSuite assistant? Use this survey link to share your top questions to the assistant.
Here are some examples to get your creative juices flowing.
"Did I pay vendor John Doe last month?"
"Take me to my largest sales order for this month."
"What invoices haven't been paid yet?"

Hi Kirk - hate to answer a question with a question, but how are you getting Item on Journal Entries? My understanding/experience has been that you can ONLY set GL impact on a JE by selecting the actual account and other objects used to assist in GL account selection (Expense Category, Item, etc) are not available....

Thanks Olivier! The specifics are that the client is using % complete rev rec on Projects that include the purchase of these materials to produce assemblies that have been included in the project price. So while the costs need to be applied to COGS, the item never actually gets sold to the client (ie no sales order or…
-
Pat - thanks for the suggestion - we actually already looked at this option, a challenge we noted was that you cannot set a COGS account as a variance account to be used on a transfer order, which means a 2 step process to get it to post to COGS which could get messy. Olivier - Point well taken regarding it being in stock…

Yeah sorry I got my records mixed up. Inventory Adjustment worksheets cannot access serialized products. Thanks for confirming there isn't a cleaner/more elegant soluton that I wasn't seeing! Always appreciate your perspective - hope to return the favour someday!
-
Of course, the perfect and most obvious question to ask...but for our purposes let's pretend the need comes from a stone tablet that a bearded man brought down from a mountain, and cannot be debated. :)
-
That's a really good suggestion to avoid the extra line on POs and inevitable vendor confusion! Thanks both for your thoughts. really appreciate it!
-
I'm assuming this would only work for Inventory items. Is there a workaround for other item types?
-
Yup. This doesn't work as you aren't storing the result of the saved search in the database (not possible as it always changes based on your search) so it cant be accessed via a different search. The benefit of this approach is that you know when you are looking at the record itself, the field value is 100% real time…
-
Perfect. Glad it helped.

Random suggestion - have you checked the employee records for the folks that aren't getting the emails to make sure NetSuite hasn't flagged the record with a Bounced Email tag?
-
Slight variation of this question...trying to include the status from the billing transaction record in a formula on a transaction search on sales orders as shown below. case when {billingtransaction.status} = 'Paid in Full' then {amount} else 0 end My results show $0 for all rows, even with the billing transaction status…

Apparently, according to NetSuite Support this change WAS rolled back globally on August 8 so the previous behaviour should be back in place. I have verified this in a few different environments, none of whom requested a patch. If you changed any automations/processes/formulae to accomodate this change, you should probably…

+1 for this - has anyone ever come across this? You can use workflow to dictate custom form for every record type except custom records?? I'm really hoping I'm missing something obvious here...
-
Just to close the loop here, this is addressed in 2015.2 - you can now set the Custom Form field on a custom record via a Set Field Value action in a workflow.
-
Hi Elie - unfortunately I was not able to find a way to do this and it is listed as Enhancement 353856 : Multi-Subsidiary Vendors list. There is a scripted workaround that NetSuite support provided me that basically creates a multi-select field for Subsidiaries and sets it based on the values selected on the record in the…

Thanks Olivier. Always good to know I'm not walking past a better option.
-
Confirmed with NS support. The solution is a dummy item (they suggested a service item but I can't see why you couldn't also use a non-inventory for sale) aligned with the same revenue account as the expense. Which could potentially mean many dummy items would be needed depending on the GL approach to break out expenses

Olivier is correct. I have been working with the timesheets record on a current implementation for a few months and while it does everything it set out to do (great improved UI, adding 'save and complete later' vs submit, adding reject, etc) and all your searches and custom fields will convert over automatically, the…
-
Thanks Camden. We have seen your issue as well and also have an escalated case for that behaviour currently under review, so you're not alone there either.
-
One more comment on this that I just learned today via testing that our client is doing. If I have a timesheet that includes 20 time entries (different projects, billable or non, etc) and approve them all, if I include any one of those time entries on an invoice, the TimeSheet can no longer be deleted. Should there be an…

Hi Olivier. It WAS an enhancement until just recently and has been promoted to an S2 defect. Note that I'm referring to the whole 'Approved records can't be edited'. There's also an S2 defect for the issue with workflow approval that Camden mentioned. I'll update this string with the final resolution - I was just curious…

So I tried a somewhat different approach and it appears to have worked out for Expense Reports (which is a posting transaction). For this situation, it was acceptable to bump the affected records out of the sequence of numbered records and just ensure that going forward we had the correct numbering. This obviously may not…

Quick update - I've actually confirmed that if I use a MARKETING template, and then send it out as a campaign, the freemarker tags update even if they're embedded in the URL which is super good news for my client! A few wrinkles I ran into - if you're testing this in a sandbox account you'll need to wrestle with the URL…

+1 to this thread. Is anyone out there using Track1099.com? Or perhaps another solution? Any issues or challenges getting the appropriate search results out of NetSuite for this?
-
Quick update to close this out. There will be no SuiteAnswers article. The official response is that the subscription management feature allows users to properly follow CASL requirements. The reality is that user training and business process will need to be applied as well to ensure that new contacts added are only set as…
-
Okay, now that we're into July and CASL is actually in effect, does anyone have more information on the impact to NetSuite Canada users? Will subscription messages be permitted for new leads if the online lead form specifies that entering your email address implies consent? Note - not asking for legal…
-
Me too!

Update to anyone else who is interested in this topic - I submitted a case to NetSuite support and was informed that a SuiteAnswers article on this topic will be released on this topic. No ETA at this time. I'll need to keep an eye on this for my client so when it is released I'll post it to this string as well.

Jharden and Jwenzer - one approach you could take, assuming the user in question can be trusted to do this or that you can directly access their machine. This also assumes that the users current role and their new role are both in the same center type 1 - Temporarily give this user's current role the Publish Dashboards…

Anyone? Any OpenAir users out there who are familiar with the Account-wide - Project summary report as well as the database structure of Advanced Projects, time, expenses, and vendor bills in NS? The Project Summary report in OpenAir is a brilliant piece of reporting design. I'd love to be able to reproduce something like…
