NSC | What Does Checking the “Restock” Checkbox in an Item Receipt for a Vendor Return Do?
Scenario:
The user is processing a Vendor Return Authorization (VRA) and wants to understand the impact of checking the "Restock" checkbox when creating the Item Receipt. Specifically, they want to know how this affects inventory levels and accounting.
Solution:
What Happens When "Restock" Is Checked:
- The system adds the returned items back into inventory as if they were never removed.
- The inventory count is increased by the quantity received.
- The corresponding Inventory Asset account is debited, reversing the reduction caused by the original return.
- Use this when the vendor return was processed prematurely or inaccurately and stock needs to be reinstated.
