NSC | Resolving Depreciation Issues for Inactive Assets
In certain cases, inactive assets may continue to generate depreciation entries. This typically occurs when assets are inactivated before running the Reset Asset Values process. Since inactivation does not automatically affect related records such as Depreciation History, unposted records may still be picked up and processed during depreciation runs.
This article explains the root cause, provides step-by-step resolution instructions, and outlines best practices to prevent recurrence.
The issue arises because:
- Assets were inactivated before triggering the Reset Asset Values process.
- Depreciation History Records remain active, even if the asset itself is inactive.
- When the Asset Depreciation process is executed, it still captures and posts these unposted records.
