• Malin, Just ran across a related issue: When should COGS be posted, SO Fulfillment vs Invoice? Could you please comment on the below assertion from: How to prevent user from dating transaction in closed period We've moved to 2008.1, but this hasn't changed. For us the issue is a bit different, as we report everything by…
• The development work required to reconcile or sync differing receipt/bill rates is unfortunately beyond the scope of a defect fix. It's a pain point in inventory management that I am well aware of, hopefully we will be able to address it in a future feature release. Thanks for the quick response Malin. Do you expect this…
• This is causing us MAJOR headaches as well - plus, many vendors do not put pricing on packing slips, so you don't know until you receive the bill what the final pricing is. Thus at the time of item receipt, you don't have a clue if the price is the same as on the PO or not. Does this mean that our A/P clerk has to pull up…
• This problem was originally reported on 8/31/2006 in the thread Best Practices for Internal NetSuite Developers - Consistency. I just updated that thread with a reference to this thread. Let's hope if we all continue to apply pressure on NetSuite they will finally fix this design flaw.
• Cat, Thanks for the clarification. That would be a good start. But what I and others have been asking for since Aug 2006 is a consistent email interface throughout NetSuite that would provide for setting Recipient, cc, and bcc to virtually any entity, contact, or employee in the system. Or, for that matter, any email…
• We would like to use the transaction message log as a means of communication internally when there are issues with transactions. When we go in and try to email within the transaction, I notice that the only available people to send the email to are the contacts listed for the customer on the transaction. Is there anyway…
• Hi JMU, ER# 138610 speaks of having the ability to set an employee as the main recipient of an email created from transactions screen (example invoice) and not only as CC. Thanks, -cat- Cat, Thanks for the clarification. That would be a good start. But what I and others have been asking for since Aug 2006 is a consistent…
• You might be referring to ER# 138610.. mco, Can you please provide details of this ER. I can not find it in the list of ER in the NetSuite Support Center. Thanks.
• Just fyi 2008.2 tentatively has an inventory transfer process, which includes a new transaction that can be fulfilled and received. Thanks, -e Evan, did this make into the 2008.2 release? Is it available now in beta?
• We typically do this with a price book. You have a lot of flexibility with pricing and if there are many items, you can use the group pricing. Not as pretty, but, it works pretty good. Walter, what is a "Price Book"? I'm not aware of this being a native NetSuite feature. Thanks.
• I believe we have this same requirement. In addition to a Budget in $, and Budget vs Actual Report in $, we also need it in LBS, the unit of all items that are sold. If anyone has been able to achieve this, please let me know.
• Cecelia, Will do. This is definitely a Marketing tool, as viewed by us and our customers. The customer uses it as a way to fund their promotions. We will definitely have this developed over the next several months.
• Clinton, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure if we actually have a good match here. The Rebates we need are NOT applied against revenue at time of invoicing. Rather they are applied against a marketing expense, and accrued to the Rebates account. It could be weeks or months before the customer requests payment from the…
• Just fyi 2008.2 tentatively has an inventory transfer process, which includes a new transaction that can be fulfilled and received. Thanks, -e Evan, Could you please confirm Inventory Transfer as a feature for 2008.2? Thanks.
• Darrin and Ray, Thanks for your response, but I'm not sure that what my client needs is either of what you described. This has NOTHING to do with subsidiary management. Click the link on subsidiary accounts in my original post to see a definition. Here's more details of what is needed: Most, if not all, accounting systems…
• I am now not sure what your client needs. Correct. You mentioned subsidiary accounts - so that can only mean one of two things. subsidiaries or sub-accounts. - link doesnt work btw. The www.small-business-dictionary.org site seems to be down now. Here's another definition of "subsidiary account":…
• Hi, We are reselling a web based budgetting tool, give me a call, we can see if it can help you with your requirements! Martin McNicoll (514) 664-1023 x100 martin.mcnicoll@it-ration.com Martin, Does your tool integrate with NetSuite? If so, please provide some details.
• Thanks Ray - I think the answer is you can't do this in Netsuite, as if I enfore class as mondatory I will have to apply a class analysisi to every account I assume, and it's not relevant for all accounts. Thanks for your input though. Sandra Sandra, One option might be:

Do NOT make Classes mandatory in Setup…
• Would a customized statement do the trick? It's one document to the customer, but you do still have to deal with lots of invoices internally, like Olivier's suggestion. - Miguel Well, yeah, if it looks like an invoice. :) Seriously though, it would need to show all the line items. This would be better than nothing, but…
• If you are using accounting periods, the transaction date is really not relevant unless you decide to run your reports by date (obviously not recommended). Darren, Since all of the sales reports are run on date, our sales team might differ with you about the transaction date being not relevant. ;) Limiting reports to run…
• Creating one invoice from multiple sales orders is not currently possible without making some substantial customizations and writing your own script. This need has come up numerous times, and there are a number of threads that address this. You may want to do a search on "Multiple Sales Orders" and/or similar keywords.…
• Matt, Another work-around is to create a Saved Search which lists those fulfillments that cause the problem, and set it as an email alert to your accounting dept or whoever. At least this way you would know immediately when this occurs, and can fix it. No scripting required for this. ;) HTH.
• This seems a very basic question but we are just setting up NS and I cannot find anything anywhere that explains what a subaccount actually is and how they should or could be used (in relation to chart of accounts). mccanm, The primary purpose in setting up Parent and child accounts is so that all of the child accounts…
• This is an ENHANCEMENT request? Surely this can't be right - nothing should impact a closed period. Am I missing something here? Cecelia Cecelia, There are at least two things I know of that will impact closed periods:

Changing the G/L accounts associated with an item
Changing the parent-child hierarchy of…
• how many subaccounts are able to be linked? what is the limit? If you are making good use of Departments, Locations, and Classes you should not need very many sub-accounts. Please see my earlier post about this, as well as the NetSuite Learning Center on Best Practices. Decisions you make now about the Chart of Accounts…
• Even better would be to offer a choice of the PDF and HTML layouts to use when the PRINT button is clicked! It could, of course, defalut to that defined by the NS form. As part of the form design, you could specify which layouts will be available as choices. This would give you lots of flexibility and at the same time…
• The Estimate still exists.

You can create another SO from it.
You can delete or cancel the SO.
You can also require approval of SO. Before it's approved it will have no impact on inventory and can be canceled. See Online Help for details.
• Bill, Thanks for posting all this good stuff about Texas taxes -- definitely confusing and changing!! Do you know how the new law requires you to handle a situation like this:

Company's corporate office is in Houston (no sales, just admin)
There are no sales offices in Texas
Company has sales office in…
• Jim, As a note, to my knowledge, no one in support created an issue from my case. I closed the support case. Bill, thanks for pointing this out. I just reviewed the tax engine code and there seems to be an issue with the logic: it ignores the inactive flag for the purpose of counting tax groups/codes for the state.…
• This is tracked as issue 129653. It's fixed in the 2007.1 release. Patrice, Thanks. What's the release date for 2007.1?
