Then select this SS in your prepayment balance custom field under the Validation & Defaulting subtab

Can you try setting "Own, subordinate, and unassigned" and see if that changes anything?
As a workaround, you can also set up a daily email notification to send the list of Supervisor's customers to subordinates.
Another option would be to allow viewing of all customers and then create a Workflow to generate an error message when non-supervisor customer records are viewed.

@Patrick Fresnosa-Oracle based on research of articles in the NetSuite help systems I have created a second Payment Type for the new bank account. I am hoping that this will mean that auto created payments will have a valid Payment Type (based on the bank account) and then there should be no need to change this field when editing the payment.
