As a valued member of the NetSuite Support Community, you are encouraged to personalize the elements of your user profile such that your engagements here are more memorable to others. This means choosing a unique and personable username, adding details to your profile to show your educational and technical credentials, and uploading a profile picture, among other activities. Read on to discover how you can make your profile stand out.
How to Change Your Username
When you first join the NetSuite Support Community, you are given a non-descript username comprised of random letters and numbers. New members are highly encouraged to change this default username to something more memorable, as doing so makes other high-performing members of the community more likely to engage when you ask questions.
To change your username, access the "Account & Privacy Settings" option from your avatar menu:
The Account & Privacy Settings page shows your current community Display Name, email address, and Privacy selection.
Your display name is not directly editable inside the community. To edit it, click the pencil icon beside the Display Name field to be directed to your account management page on profile.oracle.com. Changing your display name here keeps your presence across multiple Oracle systems and technologies synchronized.
In the “Your Display Name” field, enter a valid, non-numeric display name. It is suggested that you craft a display name that includes some variation of your actual name, such as your first name and first initial of your last, or something similar. Choose whatever you’re most comfortable with, but keep it professional.
Once you have finished your work in profile.oracle.com, return to the community browser tab.
The final step is to log completely out of the community and then log back in to see your changes reflected. The login process is required in order for the community to understand that you have made changes in the external application. To log out of the community, select the "Sign Out" option that is accessible from your avatar. (Please note that simply closing your browser tab does not log you out of NSC; you must choose the "Sign Out" option to complete the process in full.)
Upon logging back in, you should see your new user display name.
How to Edit Your Profile
Your community profile is used to show basic user information about your engagements in the community, including your earned badges, your number of visits, points earned, and contributions made (such as discussions and comments posted). In addition, you have the option to include biographical information, education, certifications you hold, and other details.
To edit your profile information, access the "Edit Profile Fields" option from your avatar menu:
The "Edit Profile Fields" page allows you to make changes and additions to several elements of your personal profile, as below:
When you have made the changes you wish, click Save.
How to Change Your Avatar
To change your community profile picture (avatar), you must first navigate to either the "Account & Privacy Settings" page or the "Edit Profile Fields" page. From here, simply select the Change My Picture option on the left side pane.
You can choose to Upload New Picture or Remove Picture. Once the picture is uploaded, you have the ability to define the portion of your picture to be used as your thumbnail.
Note: By uploading a file, you certify that you have the right to distribute the picture and that it does not violate Oracle's Terms of Use.
How To Ignore Another User
Oracle Community members have the ability to ignore other members. The ignore feature allows each member of the community to maintain a list of other users whose comments they would prefer not to read. Comments posted by a person you have ignored will be 'buried' and must be clicked on (to expand them) in order to be read. Private messaging with that user who is on your ignore list will also be disabled.
There are two ways to 'ignore' a user:
1. From the left side pane menu mentioned above, select the Ignore List option.
Type in the community member's username in the Ignore Someone text field. Then select Ok.
2. You can also navigate to a specific community member's profile, then click the dropdown in the right hand corner and select "Ignore".
