Oracle Infinity Data Collection Release Notes for February 28, 2020

    The following enhancement has been made for Oracle Infinity Data Collection:

     

    • Administer your data collection tags through a new user interface.  It is now possible for you to view the JavaScript tags used to collect data for your account, create new tags, update settings, and much more.  To access this new feature, users must have either "View tags" or "Manage tags" rights found in Account Settings.  To learn more about updating user rights, see the "Managing users" help document.

      If you have the proper user rights, upon signing into Infinity, you will see a new application called, Data Collection.  Additionally, in the top right corner of all Infinity applications, you will see a new Data Collection icon that allows you to navigate to this new administration user interface.

      Click the Data Collection button or icon and you'll land on a dashboard that allows you to view a list of all tags that have been created in your account.  You will also see a button to create new tags in the upper right corner of the screen.  For each tag that has been created, you'll see details about the tag such as its name, ID, and when it was last modified.

      To view more details about each tag, click the Tag Name.  Doing so allows you to view configuration details and plugin details for the selected tag.  If you have the "Manage tags" user right, you will see an Edit icon that allows you to edit the configuration details and another Edit icon for tag plugins.

      Returning to the data collection dashboard, you can obtain the Tag URL by clicking the hyperlink for the Tag ID.  A pop-up will show you the tag URL and present an option to copy it to clipboard.  This tag URL can then be applied to the digital properties where you want to collect data.

      Click the Create Tag button from the data collection dashboard to generate a new tag.  A pop-up will ask you to enter a name for the tag, and based on the name you enter, the tag ID will automatically populate.  This ID can be changed, if desired.  It's important to note that once the tag is created and saved, the tag ID cannot be changed later.  Click Save, and the newly created tag is visible in the list of tags on the dashboard. 

      To view the default configurations and plugins for this new tag, click the Tag Name from the dashboard.  By default, the tag is created with three plugins enabled - the Cross Domain, Event Tracker, and Persistent Parameters plugins.  The tag's configuration settings can be edited to the desired settings by clicking the Edit icon next to Tag Configuration Details.

      You can also click the Edit icon next to Tag Configurations - Plugins to add or remove different plugins to the tag.  When viewing the list of available tag plugins, check the box for the plugins you wish to add and uncheck those you wish to remove.  It's also important to note that the addition of each plugin increases the overall tag size, so you should only add the plugins you need.
