How can I display a candidates penultimate CSW status?

Hello!

I am trying to put together a report that includes a candidate's status prior to being rejected or declined. For each step, we have multiple statuses and one of our end points is rejected. I can report on the candidates that are rejected, but how would I create a column that would bring back the status they had prior to being rejected? The examples could be attempted contact or hiring manager review before rejected. So I would like to pull back that value in a column. I am trying to see more clearly the data on where in the process
