What is the disadvantage to running the Smart Push in the background?

Is there a disadvantage when enabling the option to "Run the Smart Push in Background"?  The message I see is "Smart Push successfully submitted as background job".  How do I know the data has been moved to the target cube?

As an admin I can monitor the jobs from the job console but in our environment the regular users cannot see the job console.
