Whenever we are trying to add a new substitution variable, system doesn't check for existence of same variable name across the cubes.

As a best a best practice, i recommend first search for a variable existence in the search box and add a new variables. This helps to avoid confusions during rule build, formula build and member selection.

Also, if possible  use separate naming prefix for cube level variables and global variables.
