Trying to illustrate the difference between what data is stored in the Financial Essbase Cube and what is in the Fusion transaction database.

Hello Everyone. I am wondering if anyone knows, or has, some form of documentation to illustrate the difference between what data is stored in the Financial Essbase Cube and what is in the Fusion transaction database. I am an I.T. member, not a member of our finance team, but I do have some financial knowledge.

The way I currently understand it is that the Essbase Cube contains General Ledger Balances that are only updated after months are closed in modules. The Fusion Transaction database contains all of daily credit/debits to the module Sub-ledgers. The different reporting tools have access to the different locations.  Analysis, BI Publisher, Smartview look at Transaction data. Financial Reporting Studio looks at Essbase data.
