Associate an existing Asset from Fixed Asset to a Capital Improvement Project

Our customer has a requirement to associate capital improvement project cost to an existing asset in Fixed Asset module. We are able to create a new asset from capital project. But we are not able to associate an existing in-service asset to a capital project.

Is there a document or step-by-step instructions on how to do it?

Or does anyone have experience in it?
