Many high volume ecommerce customers will ship out thousands of packages a day via different service levels, incurring a cost on each individual container shipped.

The size of containers often incurs a larger shipping charge than the weight, so it is very important that items go out in the smallest possible container. Because of this many customers will need several OBLPN types to better capture the variety of item dimensions they have to ensure the closest dimensional match. This number only increases as the SKU count raises.

For my current customer I've had to manually create 100+ OBLPN Types in both test and prod, and while I'd prefer that we could use item dimensions as the OBLPN dimensions in cubing, at the very least allowing us to upload them via a file would save time.
