This query has come up a few times recently. My colleague Mara Prieto has provided an excellent summary of the design in one of our internal posts that I thought would be useful to share a quick refresher for everyone.

Issue:

The question I saw in recent times at least on 3 internal queries/posts was:

I have an item that is internally transferable and purchasable and have added it to a Shopping List. At a later point time, I add that item to the shopping cart from the Shopping List but it does not seem to source internally at that point. Why?
