Generic user account for interfaces/scheduled processes

What is the best practice that you follow in your project to schedule interfaces (from a middleware like Java)/Reports or scheduled processes? Is it recommended to go by a stand alone user account (implementation user account) or with a business user account to do those? Both has their own pros and cons. Interested to understand how it is being followed across.
