Automatically import project information to asset

Our Asset Management team currently imports assets that are created through the standard PO process and may be funded by a project or through many projects. They also import Construction in Progress (CIP) which is created and tracked through PPM. When assets are imported through the CIP process, project information is automatically populated within the asset at creation. However, when they are created from normal PO process, the project information is not populated and must be manually added to the asset.

Is there something in the setup that would drive when or how the project information is populated automatically, or a specific way that capital assets need to be processed in order for project information to automatically import to fixed assets? Alternately, is there something in how an asset is created through a standard PO process that would cause the information to populate or not?
