How to cancel a requisition with a stale task?

Summary:

We have a requisition with a stale task, and we are getting error when we try to cancel.

Content (required):

I have tried to action this from the Transaction Console, but the status is completed. However, when I search under Manage Requisitions the status is pending approval. And in the BPM worklist the most recent task is stale. When we tried to cancel it, we get the error in the screenshot. Is there a way to cancel this requisition?
