How To Boot An Ubuntu Server Into Recovery Mode

edited Feb 24, 2023 3:29PM in Linux

If you need to troubleshoot or resolve problems with an Ubuntu Server failing to boot correctly, you can boot into recovery mode by selecting some options available in Ubuntu's boot menu.

To boot Ubuntu into recovery mode, perform the following steps:

1) Power on or reset the Ubuntu server

2) Press and hold Esc immediately after the server's BIOS screen appears to access Ubuntu's GRUB boot menu

If the server boots too quickly for pressing Esc to work, do the following:

A) On OCI Dashboard Launch Cloud Shell Connection.

B) Reboot the instance once connect to the instance serial console using Cloud shell.

Howdy, Stranger!
