A question regarding contract flex fields; is it possible to set default value dependencies based on another table validation value-set flexfield?

We have a table validation value-set query for Business Owner that grabs a list of all users from our HR module. There are two additional table validation value-set flexfields for department and division information related to the Business Owner. Is it possible to default the selection of the department/division fields with the associated department/division information from the selected Business Owner? The selection should still be able to be changed, and when contract is saved, a snapshot of the division/department should be saved (If business owner changes division/department in the future, the flexfields should
