How do I enable the member selector for Reports as is used in Data forms?

Summary:

The customer is finding the navigation in the POV awkward with Reports and wishes there were an option to have the same behaviour for selection as in Data forms.

If we choose to make a subselection of a dimension in the POV available in a Report, it displays a list which is impossible to navigate, whereas it can be navigated via the hierarchy in data forms. If we leave the selection as default, then all shared members of other hierarchies also show, which is deemed very unsightly by the client.
