how to credit subscription that is billed in extrernal system

Summary:

Hi, Is it possible to do a credit to a subscription that is billed in external system?

or to say - lets say we convert subscriptions and they are billed in legacy, and now we terminate with credit.

so far as we are not able to provide invoice reference we are not managing to credit it

has someone faced similar requirement? what could be solution?
